SHORT DESCRIPTION (2): Responsible for engineering activities related to validating customer specifications and qualifying primary and alternative components. Electronic component experience preferred.
Requires a Bachelor's degree in either mechanical or electrical Engineering, with 5 years’ experience with in component engineering or similar role OR minimum of 7 years’ experience in component engineering role. Experience with schematics and PCB and PCBA design. Experience in manufacturing methods and procedures, process improvement, documentation skills, process improvements.
CPP, CPPM, CGPP, CPPC a plus, familiarity with ISO certifications and requirements.
1. Validate customer provided documentation for quote feasibility prior to release of RFQ to sourcing, engineering and operations departments ensuring all specifications are present in support of a smooth quoting process.
2. Support Sales, Sourcing, Engineering and Ops with RFQs.
3. Assist in the migration of RFQ’s to NPI’s once the business is won.
4. Design validation for manufacturability
5. Investigate, Recommend, and Implement product and process enhancements for our clients’ products in a variety of industries.
6. Capable of assisting the sourcing team in finding alternative/substitution components as needed for cost savings, obsolescence, or supply shortages.
7. Support the Supply Chain Team in supplier selections in consideration of quality, cost and on time delivery.
8. Monitor component life cycles and recommend preventive or corrective actions to avoid production line shutdowns.
9. Become well versed with tools such as Silicon Expert, Siemens Valor, BOM Connector, IFS, Scanfil SCI and other software tools as needed. Evaluate and qualify components to make sure they meet the product and production requirements.
10. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
11. Generate Bill of Materials (BOMs) for production
12. Updating and maintaining IFS (ERP) from an engineering standpoint
13. Provide input for product and process improvements.
14. Assist in the resolution of customer complaints related to components.
15. Other duties as assigned
