The PACS/VR/RIS Application Specialist is responsible for project coordination, primary application support, application system functionality including - specifications, building, training, and implementation activities. Serves as the primary liaison between Imaging Services, TSG Department, Clinical Engineering, Vendors, and Clients on related systems and associated applications as defined by the Director/Manager. Provides application level assistance to Clients as appropriate. Serve as direct liaison for clinical informatics across departments at CFMH with TSG. Will chair CFMH computer advisory committee meetings as needed.
- Participates with functional analysis of system including, but not limited to, planning implementations and maximizing systems benefits.
- Acquires and maintains a basic technical knowledge of departmental systems, network interfaces, and hardware in order to facilitate application support.
- Responsible for conducting pre- and post-installation quality assurance testing and implementation analysis to identify procedural problems or software deficiencies in departments and the software application.
- Works in a professional manner with all vendor and departmental personnel to "follow-up" and implement system updates, corrections, and revisions.
- Serves as a mentor to include, but not limited to, participation in orientation and training of Imaging Services Staff, Radiologists, and other individuals, as necessary.
- Maintains and develops documentation including application functionality, procedure manuals, training material, downtime procedures, and conducts training for new Staff, Radiologists, and other individuals, as assigned.
- Proposes and coordinates business and application solutions working in close association with Clinical. Engineering/Radiology Engineering, Clients, Vendors, and Project Teams.
- Provides departmental support and actively participates in on-call rotation schedule to include daily, after hours, and weekend support.
- Demonstrates effective troubleshooting and logical analysis to identify and resolve complex application issues.
- Demonstrates effective organization and oral/written communication skills to include presentations. Conducts Project Team and Client Support meetings to include the preparation and delivery of minutes.
- Coordinates activities to assist Imaging Departments during recovery after extended unscheduled downtime.
- Coordinates Radiology Information System consulting processes for imaging services. Anticipates needs and proactively presents innovative, collaborative solutions.
- Assures smooth operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of the radiology information system in the clinical area.
- Monitors and develops user-defined reports to meet imaging services needs. Conducts and participates in radiology information training sessions for imaging services. Establishes, maintains and updates related policies and procedures.
- Participates on Project Teams, as assigned, with accountability for meeting deadlines. May serve in a project coordinator role under the direction of senior staff, manager, or project consultant.
- Complete and maintain documentation of a minimum of 16 hours of pertinent continuing education each year. Accountable for staying abreast of current technology trends and obtaining associated education as necessary to ensure a professional edge.
- Responsible for routing and tracking all problem calls to the Information Services Help Desk and adheres to the Information Services standards including Change Management System.
What We Require:
Education: Associate degree in Radiologic Technology, Computer Science, Electronic Technology, or equivalent knowledge/experience. B.S. Degree desirable.
Experience: Minimum of 3 to 5 years experience in radiology, medical imaging, clinical engineering, and/or computer science (related field). Effective communication, presentation, and problem solving skills required. Experience with PACS related applications including voice recognition software preferred. Experience with modalities interfaced to PACS preferred.
Licensure, certification, and/or registration: Licensed Radiologic Technologist, Certified Biomedical Technician, and/or Certified Radiology Technician preferred, but not required.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Healthcare experience or knowledge desired. Must be self-initiated team player with strong organizational and analytical skills. Must be capable of prioritizing multiple projects and meeting deadlines. Intermediate/advanced word processing and spreadsheet skills required. Must be able to work flexible hours including overtime and weekends when required to manage project load. Occasional overnight travel required. Must be available for taking call on regular basis.
