Medical Billing Specialist

We're looking for a detail-oriented Medical Billing Specialist to join our team! In this role, you'll play a crucial part in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of insurance claims, managing denied claims, and performing reconciliations to facilitate smooth billing processes.

What You'll Do:

Review and verify patient demographic and insurance information, confirming benefit details for services provided.
Obtain and document necessary medical information from clinicians for insurance review and prior authorization, and track authorization reference numbers in our systems.
Update and maintain electronic medical records (EMR) based on physician documentation to create medical claims and post self-pay charges.
Prepare and submit electronic claim files, monitor claim statuses, and update claims as needed for resubmission.
Compare transaction reports with daily schedules to ensure all services are billed promptly each month.
Resolve credit balances, prepare statements, and handle collections of outstanding patient balances.
Perform charge capture functions as outlined by each clinic, including entering patient charges into the EMR platform.
Ensure accurate charge reconciliation and work with clinic leadership, revenue cycle management (RCM) leadership, and the coding team to maintain billing accuracy.
Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree preferred.
1-2 years of experience in medical billing, preferably in a women's clinic or physician practice setting. Experience with lab and ASC settings is a plus.
Knowledge of CPT code sets, including modifiers, bundling/unbundling, proper diagnosis assignment, Evaluation and Management Codes, Lab Codes, and ASC HCPC code sets.
Familiarity with claim edits, clearinghouse functionality, and medical billing platforms used in clinic and physician practice settings.
