Title: Lecturer Part-time Temporary-Informatics

Position

The School of Nursing and Healthcare Leadership at the University of Washington Tacoma invites applications for a non-tenure track, temporary part-time lecturer position to teach informatics courses. The appointment period is generally in alignment with the academic quarter. The position is dependent on curricular need and available funding. Part-time lecturers are non-voting members of the UW Tacoma faculty.

The successful candidate’s primary duties for this position are instructional and include teaching one or more informatics courses in the Healthcare Leadership (HCL) and/or Master of Nursing (MN) program.

The position may require on-site face-to-face availability for course instruction, online/hybrid instruction, or remote synchronous instruction and teaching assignments may include days and/or evenings. Teaching excellence is expected of all successful candidates. The specific needs include teaching THLEAD 405: Healthcare Informatics I: Fundamentals ; THLEAD 406: Healthcare Informatics II: Health Data Analytics ; and T NURS 554: Informatics & Healthcare Technology .

UWT’s School of Nursing and Healthcare Leadership current offerings include RN-BSN, MN, and Healthcare Leadership. The RN-BSN program focuses on critical thinking, cultural diversity, communication, and working with communities. The MN Program provides nurses with in-depth knowledge and skills related to leading in a healthcare environment of constant change that includes learning theory, teaching methods, curriculum development, and evaluation. The Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Healthcare Leadership is for students who wish to pursue a career in a leadership role.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Master’s degree

  • If credentialed as a nurse, applicants must have an unencumbered RN license in Washington state

  • Demonstrated experience teaching informatics courses

  • Commitment to and understanding of the learning needs of diverse adult learners
