The Human Resources Generalist reports to the Director of Human Resources and will work with all levels of staff to ensure the agency maintains a high-performance workforce. The Human Resources Generalist will administer human resources programs in the areas of talent management, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, training and development, employment law, and safety. He/she, they will play a key role in coordinating Bridge’s talent and human resources functions and systems.
Essential Job Functions Recruitment and Onboarding of New Employees
- In concert with Bridge’s Recruiter, the Human Resources Generalist will be fully responsible for coordinating and conducting the new hire orientation and onboarding process for exempt and non-exempt employees.
- Responsible for managing and processing all new hire paperwork through ADP Workforce Now.
Human Resources and Benefits Administration
- Manage information and workflow of the HR systems and platforms including changes in staff benefit elections, management of time during leaves of absences and upkeep with the input of information during performance review cycles.
- Serve as the point of contact for all employees, candidates and providers regarding questions, concerns and/or changes related to the Bridge’s benefit plans.
- Maintain current knowledge of and ensure compliance with state and federal labor laws and licensing requirements (including Massachusetts health care reform)
- Maintain accurate data in ADP Workforce Now. Responsible for accurate data entry of employee changes, such as insurance, FSA, 401 (k), and other benefit related changes.
- Update, monitors, and maintains eligible salary adjustments/increases based on performance evaluations, or mid-year promotions.
- Assist the Director of HR with managing the annual performance review process
- Respond to employee questions and or concerns regarding Human Resource policy, procedures, or employee handbook inquiries.
- Assist supervisors and assistant directors with employment and policy-related inquiries as well as other HR processes.
- Report, maintain, and monitor all workers' compensation case files; follows-up on open cases.
- Coordinate and maintain programs that enhance Bridge’s culture, such as employee recognition programs, celebrating special occasions, birthdays, and holidays.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Employee Relations
- Collaborate closely with Director of HR to recommend policy changes and procedures to align with overall employee relations strategy.
- Develop employee relations programs which strengthen overall employee engagement and employee satisfaction.
- Collaborate closely with Director of HR to manage the performance review cycle, employee recognition and service award programs.
- Ensures uniform application of workplace policies and procedures.
- Collaborate closely with Director of HR to develop training & development programs for all levels of staff.
- Ensures Employee Handbooks remain updated.
- Remains current with changes in employment laws.
- Provides guidance, support, and counsel to employees on employee relations’ issues and workplace policies and procedures.
- Works closely with Director of HR to manage Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Programs and Initiatives.

- Excellent organizational skills with high-level attention to detail.
- Working understanding of human resource principles, practices, and procedures.
- Excellent time management skills with demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Proficient with ADP Work Force Now.
Education And Experience - Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field and/or equivalent experience.
- Three to Five years of related experience required.
- PHR or SHRM-CP professional designations preferred.
Physical Requirements - Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift to fifteen pounds occasionally.
- Will need to move between buildings. Around the corner to the main building and back to the admin office. Occasionally will visit the locations in Brighton.
Compensation Salary Range: $70,000 to $75,000 per year based on experience and qualifications.
