Starting at $55,000.00

About the Position:

The Embedded Social Worker will work collaboratively with police officers to provide support and connect individuals with community resources, promoting public safety and well-being. The social worker will participate in ride-alongs, respond to calls, and provide guidance on social service-related issues. This role does not necessarily include assessments or direct therapy.

A Typical Day as an Embedded Social Worker:

  • Ride along with police officers to gain understanding of community needs and police operations
  • Provide real-time support and guidance to officers on social service-related issues
  • Connect individuals with community resources, such as housing, healthcare, and mental health services
  • Facilitate referrals and ensure warm handoffs to community agencies
  • Collaborate with officers to develop strategies for addressing community concerns
  • Participate in police briefings, meetings, and training sessions
  • Maintain accurate records of interactions and referrals

Work Conditions:

Work will be performed in various settings, including police vehicles, stations, and community locations. May be exposed to traumatic or distressing situations. Schedule is flexible and non-traditional including evenings and weekends.

Does the Following Apply to You?

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Human Service, or related field
  • Experience working in community-based settings
  • Strong knowledge of community resources and social services
  • Ability to work in high-stress environments
  • Familiarity with crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion
