Compensation: The salary range for this role is $115,000 - $130,000 annually depending on experience
Position Type: Full-time Project-Based Outsource Role
Duration: This position has no guaranteed multi-year duration and is dependent on project needs and funding availability provided by Apexs customer. That funding is reevaluated annually.

Role Overview: This role is all about assisting a specific Apex client with environmental safety & health. The incumbent will be involved initially in two major projects: 1) Fleet Safety Program and 2) Potentially Serious Injury or Fatality Program. Other projects may emerge related to industrial safety, employee accident prevention, industrial hygiene and occupational health issues, and environmental compliance.
A successful candidate will provide strong project leadership and project management functions skills applied to a dual role of 1) providing overall project planning and management as well as oversight of an EHS field staff executing the Fleet Safety Program (FSP) and 2) advancing a Potentially Serious Injury or Fatality (PSIF) program.
The incumbent will ideally be based out of the clients facilities in Renton, WA or Everett, WA with some local driving expected each week. Partial remote support may be allowed for the right candidate and as client need dictates.
Perhaps most importantly, the incumbent will be an energetic self-starter with the ability to work independently and produce results within budget and timeframe.
Your Responsibilities: - Safety & Health Project Management Support.
- In close routine collaboration with the customer, designs, implements and executes an agreed-to service plan. Monitors and reports progress on plan completion as directed.
- Provides plan, structure and accountability to the PSIF program and the FSP.
- Engages key internal and external stakeholders and organizes, schedules, prepares, and facilitates meetings for improvement in the PSIF program and the FSP.
- Establishes, tracks, and meets milestones for the PSIF program and the FSP.
- Identifies barriers and solutions to progress the PSIF program and the FSP.
- Maintains focus for disparate team members with varied objectives towards achieving the goals of the PSIF program and the FSP across a wide variety of departments and subject matter experts.
- Reports progress to leadership.
- In collaboration with Apex project managers, coordinates and executes industrial safety projects within set organizational procedures and standards.
- Acts as an advisor to the customer on occupational safety and health issues.
- Provides input to project managers, client relationship managers, or business development staff on potential new EHS support projects.
- Participates in business development activities as directed.
What we are looking for: - Candidates must be a U.S. Person as defined by 22 CFR 120.15.
- Bachelor's degree required ideally, in a science or engineering field.
- CSP or CHST certification desired.
- Minimum 10 years of experience required in the environmental health and safety field.
- Experience in manufacturing-&-assembly industries / heavy industry settings a plus.
- Experience in the aerospace and defense or automotive industry a further plus.
- 3+ years of experience interpreting occupational health and safety regulations.
- Possess an extensive knowledge of EHS technical subject matter and how to apply it in real-life settings. Highly familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the EHS field. Just a few topics where strong technical knowledge is required:

- Strong interpersonal communication skills.
- A great deal of creativity and self-starter initiative is required. This position entails routine ongoing work and negotiation with numerous customer stakeholders all of whom need to be satisfied with respect to project purpose, scope, and tactics.
- Relies on experience and judgment paired with the overall work statement provided by the customer to plan and accomplish goals.
- Ensures compliance with all EHS regulations and keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization.
- Strong technical writing skills, the ability to successfully multi-task, safety awareness, and a good record and understanding of safe work practices.
- Experience with data management and report preparation.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
Travel Expectations: - Typically, local/regional only; potential occasional travel nationwide.
- Walking is required for site visits and assessment.
