Cyber Security Engineer , you’ll be crucial in ensuring smooth operations and supporting our diverse team. The Information Technology team is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining a robust technology infrastructure to support the organization’s operations. Through improving cybersecurity and troubleshooting technical issues to driving innovation through cutting-edge solutions, the IT team ensures seamless connectivity, data security, and optimal functionality, empowering the company with a reliable and efficient digital ecosystem aligned with strategic goals.
The Cyber Security Engineer plays a crucial role in safeguarding S&C's global systems and networks by designing, implementing, and maintaining the security technology stack, as well as the associated policies and procedures. This role involves working collaboratively with the IT Risk Management team, IT Infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders to ensure the effective implementation and operation of security practices and solutions. Using a proactive and organized approach, the Cyber Security Engineer will lead key activities in the design, implementation, and operationalization of multi-level defense in depth security controls and solutions.
Key Responsibilities - Identifies, develops, and implements foundational and risk-based enhancements to establish and mature a comprehensive security technology stack
- Identifies technology and process gaps then designs, implements, and documents practices and solutions to ensure cybersecurity is integrated into S&C’s IT systems
- Mentors and coaches team members using a collaborative, forward-leaning approach to enable team members with security responsibilities to effectively maintain and operate security solutions and processes
- Performs and participates in security assessments to identify and mitigate risks. Uses results and feedback to continuously improve controls to ensure a robust defense against evolving threats.
- Participates in ISO Collaborate with internal and external process owners and stakeholders to conduct and maintain ongoing information asset inventories and risk assessments to maintain a current register of risks.
- Stays abreast of emerging threats and trends in the cyber security space. Consistently uses new knowledge to recommend improvements to internal processes, security architecture, and the greater IT Risk Management roadmap.
- Develops and informs schedules, tasks, test plans, deliverables, and key results for cybersecurity and cybersecurity-involved projects and initiatives.
- Develops, tracks, and reports metrics and key risk indicators that measure the effectiveness of security tools and controls.
- Understands and complies with all applicable Company policies and rules.
What You’ll Need To Succeed - Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Information Systems. Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- At least one current cybersecurity certification – Security+CE, CISSP, CISSP-ISSAP, CISSP-ISSEP or equivalent
- 5+ years of demonstrated experience working as a security engineer or a related role, with a track record of implementing security technologies, solutions, and processes
- Demonstrated experience with the Microsoft cybersecurity capabilities and technologies with emphasis on Identity and Access Management and Information Protection
- Familiarity with vulnerability scanners and penetration testing tools
- Strong customer service orientation with the ability to take initiative in pursuit of improved service
- Advanced understanding of cybersecurity practices and technologies
- Possess a working knowledge of information security risks and threats
- Strong communication skills (written, verbal, listening, and presentation); able to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders to support decision making and achieve desired results
- Ability to independently collaborate with team members, subject matter experts, cross-functional teams, and stakeholders
- Strong analytical skills, especially related to security governance, strategic planning, problem resolution, and change management. Ability to use technical acumen and analytical skills to analyze data and drive informed decisions, problem-solve issues, and leverage data and learnings to drive continuous improvement
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks; strong multi-tasking skills
- Embraces change and has the ability to coach junior team members through change and ambiguity
- Proficient with Microsoft applications (Teams, SharePoint, Office applications, etc) and project management tools
- Experience developing process workflow diagrams using Visio or an equivalent tool
- Ability to travel as required
Preferred - Relevant cybersecurity certifications (e.g., Security+CE, CISSP, CISSP-ISSAP, CISSP-ISSEP)
- Familiarity with security information and event management (SIEM) solutions, intrusion detection and prevention systems, firewalls, VPNs
- Demonstrated experience with Oracle cybersecurity capabilities and technologies
