Job Description
Under the supervision of Adult Day Services Program Director provides meals service for participants and staff (ADS only) in a clean, safe environment.
Schedule: 9:00a-2:00p, Monday-Friday
Accountabilities - Prepares regular and specialty meals and snacks for program participants in accordance with the guidelines of the Kansas Department of Education Child and Adult Care Food Program. Meal preparation may include up to 250 servings.
- Stores food in designated containers and storage areas to prevent spoilage.
- Ensures proper storage conditions of food and supplies.
- Regularly cleans and inspects kitchen equipment, appliances, and work areas to ensure cleanliness and functional operation.
- Takes and records the temperature of food and food storage areas such as refrigerators and freezers.
- Documents food and refrigerator temperatures.
Requirements - Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Certification, Registration or License
- Certified Dietary Manager preferred.
- Food handler’s permit required.
- Experience
- Minimum one year's experience in quantity food preparation and kitchen coordination.
- Skills and Abilities
- Ability to work independently and meet requirements of KSBE/CACFP.
- Ability to operate commercial kitchen equipment and supervise kitchen aides in quantity food preparation and cleaning.
- Able to use a personal computer via mouse and keyboard.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Windows and products.
- Proficiency progress for this position is 6-12 months.
- Communication
- Frequent communication with program staff and participants.
- Exposures
- Controlled inside work environment with noise/vibrations from commercial kitchen equipment.
- Regularly handles/operates manual and mechanical cutting tools, cleaning, and steam table, cooking and backing equipment.
Physical Demands - Work Type: Moderately physical, exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects
- Climbing/Balancing/Freedom to Move: Controlled mobility in all aspects of ambulation is needed frequently.
- Stooping/Bending: The ability to flex (bend), extend (straightening) and rotate the body is done frequently.
- Reaching: Occasional overhead as well as horizontal and downward movement.
- Vision: Adequate to perform job responsibilities.
- Color Vision: No color vision requirements.
- Hearing: Adequate to perform job responsibilities.
- Speech: Adequate to express ideas by means of spoken word and perform job responsibilities.
- Eye/Hand/Foot/Coordination: Frequently operates equipment or performs duties requiring moderate ability.
- Manual Dexterity: Frequently performs duties requiring moderate ability.
