Job Description

Knowledge:

• Knowledge of healthcare field and medical protocol.
• Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and maintain effective flow to ensure timely patient flow in a busy practice.
• Must have knowledge of medical terminology, writing prescriptions and electronic health record.
• Excellent customer service skills, phone etiquette and communication skills.

Daily responsibilities are but not limited to:

• Escort patient from waiting room to exam room, measure all vital signs, weight, height, blood pressure, pulse and document in the chart. Collect and document all pertinent information about the reason for visit prior to the physician or nurse practitioner entering the exam room.
• Obtain all related results, reports, labs are scanned and attached to patient's chart prior to the office visit.
• Assist physician or nurse practitioner in the exam room, assist with procedures and related nursing duties in the exam room.
• Relay and/or give instruction to patients as directed by the physician or nurse practitioner.
• Triage telephone messages, provide feedback and answers to the patient or other facilities regarding patient. Triage messages from the front desk and/or EHR to physician or nurse practitioner.
• Keep exam rooms clean and stocked with adequate supplies and instruments.
• Maintain all logs such as: refrigerator/freezer. Check for expired medications and supplies. Remove and dispose of expired medications and supplies according to OSHA standard.

We are a busy Family Medicine practice. The physician also is a specialist in Sleep Medicine. This allows the physician to care for patients with general medical needs along with sleep problems. He has been practicing for over 20 years. He graduated from MIT with an engineering degree, transitioned into medicine and has been serving the Tomball area since 2001.
